Auguste Bonaz was a visionary designer who transformed the world of jewellery and hair adornments during the dawn of modernity. Around 1900, he took over the family firm, Maison Bonaz, from his father César, steering its legacy into a new era of innovation and elegance. Departing from traditional horn, he embraced avant-garde materials like celluloid and galalith - early synthetics that allowed for delicate and expressive ornamentation.

Here we present one of his poetic creations: a half-moon shaped hair comb in a soft shade of blue, featuring refined pierced work that plays with light and shadow like lace woven from dreams. Signed discreetly on one of its fine tines, this piece stands as a testament to Bonaz’s mastery and artistic soul - a miniature sculpture for the hair, whispering of a time when beauty was expressed in every flourish and curve.

His creations were proudly showcased at the legendary Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, held in Paris in 1925 - a landmark exhibition that gave birth to the term Art Deco. It was there that Auguste Bonaz’s visionary designs captivated the public with their bold aesthetics and modern spirit.

Today, his pieces are highly sought-after collector's treasures, admired not only for their striking beauty, but also for their historical significance and the rare glimpse they offer into an era defined by innovation, glamour, and artistic revolution.
